Horror likes:
- Psychological horror/horror focused on emotion: I love when horror stories focus on how characters *feel* (How do they deal with being afraid? How do they cope with and parse through unnatural situations? I love when horror really explores unusual and odd states of mind)
-cosmic/eldritch horror: I love when horror elements feel really big, mysterious, and incomprehensible
-Unexpected little moments of levity/humor/tenderness in horror scenarios
-Creative monster designs
-Dark or twisted retellings of fairytales/folklore/existing stories
-"Final girl" type catharsis/characters pulling their way through survival scenarios
- First person horror narration/in-universe "found footage" documents
-Horror where "becoming the monster" is the good ending and something the characters accept and want
-In horror art I really love ~atmosphere~

In general I'm pretty robust to gore and body horror so feel free to go crazy with those if you like (see DNWs for my hard limits about this). I'm also OK with a bit of smut in my horror (I do like horror with a lot of sexual tension and sometimes it's neat to see that acted upon) - my main limit here is I prefer to keep my smut and my extreme gore separate, though I am excited about both independently.

I am so in love with the whole horror vibes of the Black Rose Saga - the creepy basements! the ominous pointing hands! the giant morgue basement! the whole eerie abandoned feel of Nemuro Memorial Hall!
I'm kind of taken with the "Mikage is a ghost" interpretation of Utena, so horror exploring that could be cool - How does Mikage feel about realizing he's already dead? Is there evidence before his duel with Utena? How did he die - and does he remember that?
Mikage's also really seen some shit and done some shit in his life, so psychological horror getting into any of it could be cool - the Nemuro Memorial Hall fire, his relationship with Mamiya, the creation of the dueling arena...
I'm also a big fan of the time-fuckery of Ohtori academy and would love something with that played as a horror element

The Haunting of Hill House

Eleanor, Theodora, or Eleanor & Theodora

ngl I ship Eleanor and Theodora a lot, but I'm interested in their dynamic in any sort of way: an unrequited crush in either direction, unacted romantic tension, acted romantic tension, as two strangers finding each other, and as two sort-of-friends who kind of hate each other.
For Eleanor, I'm obsessed with her relationship with Hill House. I've always sort of thought she becomes a ghost in the house after canon (or has she always been?) - what does that look like? Do new people ever come to Hill House, and how does she interact with them? Or does Theodora ever come back? 
For Theodora, I think it would be really cool to see a section of canon from her point of view? How does she feel about Hill House? Is she only scared of it, or is there something attractive to her about it? How does she feel about Eleanor? It could be especially cool to see a moment where she seeks out Eleanor for comfort - does she appreciate it, or somewhat resent it, or both? 
For art, I would love to see your ideas about what Hill House looks like! Or maybe something that plays on 1950s horror pulp art styles? 

We Have Always Lived In The Castle

Merricat, Constance, or Merricat and Constance

I'd love to see more of this story from Constance's point of view! Merricat is such an interesting and unreliable narrator, and I'd love to hear your take on where she is correct about what Constance and what she isn't - what does Constance's extreme agoraphobia look like from inside her own head? 
I'm also interested in how you think the people in town continue to think about and tell the story of Merricat and Constance - some in universe urban legends about the house (especially after the fire) could be cool.

A Field In England

Thank you, by the way, to whoever nominated this, I frigging love this movie and seeing it on the noms made my day!

This movie has such impeccable vibes and I'd love to see how you translate the trippiness of it into fic or art! I'd love anything which integrates copious mushroom imagery and lore. I also love the religious imagery and blasphemy of the film and would be really into an exploration of the different character's beliefs about religion, and how those beliefs are challenged in the face of magic and horror (Whitehead existential crisis about Christianity every day every day we love a good Anglican boy having an existential crisis) 

Whitehead and O'Neill's dynamic is so fascinating to me. If you wanna take this in a shippy/smutty direction...I'll just say, I really do see the sexual tension. But I'm also just both so amused and interested in O'Neill's particular attitude of "it's useful to my nefarious purposes to keep this guy drugged and out of it so he will be my pawn, but fuck if it doesn't make him kinda hard to work with that he's just high as balls all the time."

I'm kinda into the interpretation that there isn't actually any magic in the Field In England universe and they just all think there is 'cause they're high on shrooms. But I'm also interested in an interpretation where there is - and I'd love to hear your thoughts on what medieval alchemical magic looks like!

Also, I'm a huge sucker for period details and especially the English Civil War background setting of this film, so if you wanna bring in period language/historically accurate Puritan or Anglican religious imagery/alchemy or 1600s science that would rock so hard

Jennifer's Body

Oh man the Jennifer and Needy dynamic in this movie is just so fire: the whole "friend you're a little jealous of but also a little in love with but also maybe realizing she's not a good person, but also maybe now she's a succubus who kills people" thing is sooooooo good. I would love to see anything from Needy's pov parsing out her confused feelings about Jennifer now that she's a terrifying monster. But I'm also curious about Jennifer's relationship with Needy - what does she still Needy for? is she an audience? A tether to humanity? is she attracted to her (and does she like that she is?) Could be cool to see a scenario where they end up acting on the sexual tension a little more than they do in the movie - but hey, it's also just fun to see them think about it! Bonus points if the real horror was the internalized homophobia, I guess

Twa Corbies

Yeah yeah yeah traditional ballad horror!! I am here for any sort of expansion on/exploration of the story in the ballad that you want to go for! Are the Corbies just normal ravens, or are they more than that (some sort of supernatural being?) I really dig this ballad as a sort of dissonant horror/humor scenario - I love the corbies' flippant approach to the concept of death

Evangelion


For any Evangelion characters, I would love to see bad endings!! The more completely apocalyptic the better!

Misato, Ritsuko, Misato & Ritsuko

I'd love to see more about what these two were up to behind all of the trippness that happened during the end of the series - especially a scenario where the two of them end up together at the end of everything. Misato and Ritsuko final-girl-ing it together through an apocalypse survival horror scenario? What do the two of them decide to do when they realize that the third impact is inevitable and there's no longer any chance of either of them making it out alive? (I very much parse Misato and Ritsuko as exes who are maybe always kinda on the cusp of getting back together but know it's a bad idea - but honestly I'm down for any sort of shipping or non-shipping dynamic with them!)

I'd also be excited about seeing things from either of their perspectives in a less immediately apocalyptic moment - how are they coping or crumbling under the stress of the slowly approaching end of the world?

Kaworu, Shinji & Kaworu

So so so fascinated with Kaworu and is seeming ambivalence towards the role he's going to play in the coming apocalypse. I'd love to see more from the inside of his head and his thoughts about humanity. I'd also like to see Kaworu in full Biblically-Accruate-Angel BE NOT AFRAID mode. Any and all biblical/Relevations motifs so welcome here

For Shinji and Kaworu, I've been thinking a lot about the Hozier song NFWMB, if that helps as inspiration!

General Barbara Allen/Hanahaki AU Note

ok ok so hear me out but I'm really into this idea of a Barbara Allen-specific Hanahaki concept - basically, Barbara Allen is a traditional ballad about a hard-hearted woman rejecting a man who dies of love for her, and then out of his grave grows a rose and out of hers a briar. So my hanahaki concept is hanahaki except once person is dying of love in the form of a rose growing in their chest, and the other person is dying of being hard-hearted in the form of a briar choking their chest - and if the hard hearted person lets the other person die of hanahaki, then they also die of their thing. So that's what I mean for all the ships where I listed Barbara Allen as a freeform, if you wanna write it!

But also, more broadly, I like the idea of Barbara Allen elements basically meaning any fuck-or-die or dying of love scenario where one of the love interests just says "then perish." 

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Utena/Anthy

Honestly this series is already such a brilliant deconstruction of fairytale prince tropes already, and I am so pumped for the idea of fic or art that uses other fairytale stories or imagery to explore that in any way.

With Utena and Anthy, I'm just so obsessed with the idea of their love overcoming all the shit they've gone through together, so much so that it literally reorders the universe - and I'm excited about what that looks like in fairytale universes!

Breaking A Curse/Must Complete Impossible Tasks/Trials of Love

I'm such a sucker for the agressively martyr4martyr thing that Utena and Anthy have going on with each other, so I'm really here for stories about either of them rescuing the other one - especially if it plays in interesting ways with Utena's status as a "prince" and Anthy's status as a "witch". AUs of the swords-of-hate setup where either Utena or Anthy needs to complete various trials or quests in order to save the other? Fairytale AUs where Anthy needs to manipulate Utena into doing non-duel-related trials of love - perhaps for nefarious purposes - how does she feel about it? 

Inspired by Tam Lin/Tam Lin Elements

Janet is a girl who is so princegender, and tbh, Tam Lin is just a guy who is so bridegender and I wanna see an utena concept that plays with this. I feel like there's just a lotta parallels there to milk - after all, Tam Lin's main defining traits are that he is known to live in a rose garden, and he has an abusive ex. I kinda imagine Anthy as Tam Lin and Utena as Janet in this situation but honestly, go wild

Dark Fairytale Tropes/Into The Woods Fusion

Tbh I had no idea where I was going with this but I threw it in because Into the Woods and Utena are two of my favorite deconstructions of fairytales and I just like the idea of exploring how to meld those two works of media's messages

Selkies

Half-formed thought, but I'm interested in how Selkie skin tropes parallel Anthy's role as the Rose Bride in various ways. AU where Anthy is a selkie? How do the whole mechanics of the Rose Bride system work in that world?

Reality Turns Dreamlike When True Love Is Near

I like when the show gets really surreal (or the totally dreamlike vibes of the utena movie) so thought this would be a fun trope to play with with the pre-existing surrealism

Putting Your Heart In A Hidden Box

This felt like Anthy energy, also, seemed to intersect in cool ways with the show's imagery of being trapped in coffins.

Oscar/Andre

Ah yes, the classic slow-burn friends to lovers to tragically dying in each other's arms on the battlefield together trope. I'd watch these guys sacrifice themselves for each other all day long. But also, love to see them getting to be happy together!

As a general note for this ship, I really like the interpretation that (whether or not you read Oscar as a trans guy or a butch girl) that there's something masc4masc about Andre and Oscar's relationship, and that Oscar is specifically attracted to Oscar's masculinity in a way that he understands as queer

Cursed character/breaking a curse/must complete impossible tasks

I'm really just a sucker for any trope involving these two sacrificing themselves for each other, or pushing themself to the limits and overcoming all odds for the other. I'm here for any configuration of rescuer and rescuee, and tbh what I like so much about this ship is it so often goes both ways!

Must Compete In Tourmanent To Win Prince(ss) Hand In Marriage

I'm imagining a kinda Atalanta-esque scenario with Oscar as a nobleman's daughter having to marry whoever wins a tournament and Andre competing for her hand - but she also hates the whole thing for genderfeels reasons. Maybe Andre's competing not intending to marry her but just t save her from being married off to another winner. Maybe Oscar already has her own plan to compete and win herself? Is Andre helping her? 

The prince *is* the brave knight

I just like the idea of fic that plays with the cross-class aspect of Oscar and Andre's relationship and this seems like a cool trope for it

I'm imagining like, Sophie venturing into Carterhaugh unafraid because surely heartless fae boy Howl would only steal the hearts of pretty girls? And then giving a lot of hassle to the rakish guy who acosts here while she's picking flowers. Also, the scene in the movie where Sophie is holding onto Howl while Sulliman tries to transform him into a monster had really good Tam Lin energy. But honestly, any of Howl's complicated exes would make a great Queen of Faerie in this adaptation

Fae Bargains/Outsmarting a Fae Creature/Must Complete Impossible Tasks/Clever Ways to Break A Curse/Lady Isobel and the Elf Knight

I wanna see Sarah pulling a fast one on Jareth with fae logic!! Down for alternate scenes/endings to the film, but also encounters between the two of them later in life.
Specific to the Lady Isobel and the Elf Knight thing, I just love that story so much and in general like the idea of Sarah using Jareth's infatuation with her against him in a Lady Isobel kinda way :D

Creative Infusion of Magic Into The Mundane

I am really taken with the idea that Sarah continues to interface with the world of the goblin city and its creatures for the rest of her life as an adult, and I am really curious what that looks like for her! How does she balance presumably having a normal day job with occasionally encountering little impish creatures, or having to be careful with how she uses the word "wish" in casual conversation? Does she have repeat encounters with Jareth in the more mundane world, and what do those look like?

tbh I think we as a fairtytale linking community have been snoozing on this totally excellent book and this totally excellent ship. It's the exact fae absolute nightmare 4 human sweaterboi kinda thing I love to see. I think the bit in the book where they're kissing and Severin says "Is it wrong that I like that you tremble? That you flinch?" and Ben says "...I'm pretty sure it's not ideal!" is a good summary of what I like about the dynamic.

Tam Lin Au/Tam Lin Fusion

I feel like this story already has a bunch of Tam Lin elements but I'm interested in what a full Tam Lin AU of it would look like - especially keeping the urban fantasy setting (...yes yes I know Holly Black wrote a whole other book that is that and I like that book so much too. But I need every story I like to be Tam Lin)

Eating Fae Food

Ben getting in over his head trying fae food at a party Severin brings him to? (what does Ben do for food when he's living in the fae court?) Or maybe its an alternative getting-together scenario for the two of them? 

Urban Fantasy/Creative Magical Elements In The Mundane

I'm just generally interested in how Ben and Severin balance being a human/fae couple, in either of their settings. When they're at Ben's place, how does he have to acomodate Severin's various fae rules and afflictions? When they're in the fae court, how does Severin need to protect Ben from various glamors and enchantments?

I'm very into any scenario where Ben has to rescue Severin from fae nonsense, especially if its got a heavy dose of hurt/comfort!

I want more people to know about this musical! (and if you don't know if but you're a robot liker, highly recommend checking it out!) The idea of a robot/human couple of radical folk singers is so cool. I'd love to see more of Beaux and Rags's relationship pre-canon - how did they meet, how did Rags learn that Beaux was a robot? Was Beaux being a robot and Rags being a human ever tense in their relationship? What was their life like as organ smugglers, or as uranium miners, or on mars? Would also love smut-fic or art of the two of them - is the Android Love Song an accurate depiction of their sex life? Also, I'd be super thrilled about something which explores the worldbuilding - the musical leaves so many interesting unanswered questions about the position of robots in society!

Pluto (Manga)

Epsilon/Hercules

I just love to be sad about these boys, and am really here for anything tragic about their relationship!! I love love love Epsilon's pacifism, and would love to see something that explores his choice to be a pascifist even though he is, technically, a super-powerful war machine - how does that come up in his relationship with Hercules? Does he ever question that choice? One idea for a prompt might be something exploring their relationship back during the war. I would also love fluff of the two of them getting to be happy together though!

Gesicht/Brau1589

I am so so here for the "Silence of the Lambs, but robots" dynamic of this ship, and would loveeeeee something which leaned into that tension and Brau seducing Geischt in some sort of way. The way canon plays with the vulnerability and trust involved in swapping memory cards is very very iddy for me.

Skin Horse

Nick/Virginia Lee

Kinda an obscure one but I am obsessed with the idea of a cute and wholesome human/helicopter relationship and I think that it was a cop-out move in canon to only have the two of them get together and get it on after Nick got his human body back. I wanna see more of how the two of them figure out a romantic or sexual relationship with Nick's helicopter body!! What does human/helicopter sex look like? Or a human and a helicopter going on a cute date? ok I'm gonna stop going on about the whole shipping helicopters thing rn also I just really love this ship I love their extreme nerd4nerd dynamics and I would be really into any fluff about the two of them

Brigette Helm is my ultimate "I can be your angle or yuor devil" and I wish that we got to see Maria and Hel interact more in canon (rip 1920s movie special effects, ammirite?) Basically, I wanna see Hel as Robot!Maria wreak some absolute havoc. I want peak Harlot of the Apocalypse shit. Huge bonus points for anything which leans into the Whore of Babylon symbolism - but I'm also just so interested in any character studies of Maria or Hel! I am not immune to the robot-clone selfcest potential, but also we do love to see Hel wrap men around her finger and lead them to their deaths :D

Blade Runner canon did Rachel dirty on the character development front and it makes me so mad. I wanna see better endings for her, or just more exploration of her! How does *she* actually feel about being a replicant? What sort of kinship with or distance from the replicants Deckard is huntind down does she feel - does she ever interact with them, and how does that go? Especially here for Replicant-and-a-Lesbian takes on her.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

God I love Data and honestly seeing him interact with any other character is a delight.

Data/Geordi

I love Data and Geordi's relationship - the awkward friendly banter, the comfortable friendly intimacy of the moments where Geordi is repairing or studying Data, the way Geordi is so willing to helpfully play along with Data's experiments in human interaction. I'd love fic or art where the two of them got together romantically - how does that getting together work? Is it one of Data's experiments in human interaction? Does Geordi make the first move? How is Data parsing out his romantic feelings when he's already so uncertain about most feelings he experiences? I also love when they LARP on the holodeck together so Sherlock Holmes or other settings are welcome!

Man that ep where Q loses his powers and kinda becomes buddies with Data about it is one of my favorite Star Trek eps of all time. I would love to see more conversations between the two of them, exploring the sort of parallels and differences between their situations (either in that episode, or in other contexts) - its interesting that both of them are in some way a very inhuman being who interacts a lot with humans and is fascinated by humans, but they have such different ideas about whether they want to be human, and are good at such different parts of it - and I'd love to see the two of them talk that out.
